Vitro-derived hop (Humulus lupulus L.) leaves and roots as source of bioactive compounds: antioxidant activity and polyphenolic profile

Abstract Bioactive compounds extracted from plant are of great value for those enterprises interested in the use natural products; tissue culture techniques guarantee a reliable and constant biomass production. Hop ( Humulus lupulus L.), with its wealth bioactive compounds, may represent an invaluable resource. The present study focused on characterization vitro -derived leaves roots two hop types, Cascade Gianni. Extracts obtained selected explants were investigated, determining their polyphenolic content as antioxidant capacity, applying DPPH, ABTS FRAP assays; moreover, extract molecular profile was through UHPLC-MS/MS. Results confirm wealthy properties tested vitro- derived explants. qualitative extracts evidenced presence twenty one different already identified open field grown plants, such polyphenols, α - β -acids, well xanthohumol isoxanthohumol. outcomes lay groundwork to further investigate potential plantlets source.
